at the cusp of summer two teens fall in a once in a lifetime love - full of late-night drives, secret spots, and fireflies under the moonlight. but as July turns to August, he learns the girl he loves is secretly dying of cancer (this is a secret until middle of the story when she bails on him leaving him waiting at a bus stop for a date). determined not to let her fade alone he spends their final days making every moment count. and when the fireflies are gone, he stays with her until the end.
